Dance Circle is a playful beginner-friendly choreography series rooted in music, movement, joy, and community.

I’ll bring choreography to the table from things that inspire me: a healthy dose of throwback jams, music videos, movies, the internet, musicals, line dance, jazz, original work, and quirky pop-culture gems.  We’ll learn it together in a welcoming, low-pressure space.

I’ll be leading the class, but I also love the idea that Dance Circle can make room for the dance-lovers already in our community — former performers, secret choreographers, kitchen dancers, and people with favorite dances tucked away in their memories. Over time, some people may want to share a favorite dance, teach a bit of choreography, or bring in a style they love, while others may simply want to show up, follow along, laugh, and enjoy moving with other people.

Both belong here.

Joyful dance for adults who know that play still matters.

FAQ’s

  • Dance Circle is open to everybody, but it’s especially made with grown-ups in mind — people who value playfulness, music, movement, creative expression, and feeling good in their bodies.

It’s for people who miss dancing, people who secretly wish they danced more, people who love a good movie dance or music video moment, and people who want a joyful movement practice without fitness-culture pressure.

    Nervous beginners are very welcome.

  • No. Dance Circle is beginner-friendly by design.

We’ll break choreography down slowly, practice in sections, use counts, try it with music, and build confidence as we go. You do not need to be coordinated, flexible, fast, or “a dancer” to join.

    Curiosity counts more than coordination.

  • The mix may change from series to series, but Dance Circle can include choreography inspired by nostalgic pop, music videos, movies, TV, musicals, line dance Charleston, Jazz,  Fosse-inspired movement, internet faves, off-the-beaten-path gems, and original choreography.

Some dances may be short and playful. Some may build over multiple weeks. Some may be iconic. Some may be delightfully ridiculous.

That range is part of the fun.

  • Not exactly.

You will move, sweat a little, wake up your brain, and probably leave feeling lighter — but Dance Circle is not built around burning calories, sculpting anything, or pushing your body into fitness goals.

It’s built around music, memory, rhythm, laughter, confidence, connection, and joy.

  • We’ll start with a warm welcome and a gentle warm-up, then learn choreography step by step.

We’ll usually break the dance into small sections, practice with counts, try it with music, and give ourselves room to laugh, adjust, simplify, or add a little flair.

The goal is not perfection. The goal is to enjoy moving together.

  • Yes. Dance Circle is beginner-friendly and drop-in friendly, so you can still join even if you miss a class.

Each 4-week session has a loose theme, but every class is designed to stand on its own. Some weeks we’ll learn new choreography; other weeks we’ll revisit favorites, expand short sections, or slow down tricky parts so they feel better in our bodies.

  • No performance is ever required.

Dance Circle is primarily for the joy of dancing. In the future, there may be optional community dance moments, flash mobs, filmed routines, or playful performance opportunities — but those will always be optional.

You can come just to dance.

  • Item descriptionDance Circle is offered as a 4-week themed session, with drop-ins welcome when space allows.
